Jennifer Jeon is a Human Factors Analyst with the Healthcare Human Factors Group at the Centre for Global eHealth Innovation. Jennifer has diverse knowledge and experience in human factors including the areas of military research, software usability and medication safety. She was involved in usability studies for evaluating a web application QA tool and research experiments for improving the search and rescue operators’ performance using an optical sensor system. Jennifer’s current project is on evaluating smart IV pump systems from a systems perspective and providing recommendations for implementing the technology within Ontario’s health system.
Jennifer holds a MASc and a BASc in Systems Design Engineering from the University of Waterloo. Through her Master’s thesis, she has developed specialized knowledge in medication labeling and in the field of medication safety in general. In particular, she conducted a Failure Mode and Effects Analysis on the process of reading injectable drug labels and investigated the impacts of different ways to use colour on medication labels on people’s behaviours when reading the labels. Through her internship at Marketed Health Products Directorate, Health Canada, she applied her knowledge to the government’s initiatives for addressing medication errors.
