Student Opportunities

The Centre is a research facility dedicated to studying and evaluating e-health innovations. We encourage students from all academic disciplines and institutions to participate on research projects with us.

In past, we have had students from Health Policy, Management and Evaluation, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Medicine, and Faculty of Information Studies from a number of prominent Universities.

The Centre is a research unit and therefore cannot grant advanced degrees.

If you would like to get involved there are several options available to you:

  • Contact your academic department or professors for more information about collaborating with us on research projects. We recommend this option since we cannot ensure your academic requirements will be met. If your department or school does not have formal ties to the Centre, please have your department contact us for more information.
  • Discuss research opportunities in eHealth with your supervisor. If your supervisor already has collaborated with us, it will be much easier to find opportunities for you.
  • Browse our web site to read about current projects. If you are interested in any of them, you can contact us to see if there is an opportunity for you to join in.

Funding
Currently, the Centre does not provide funding to graduate students. However, some limited funds may be available on a project-by-project basis. You should make arrangements with either your graduate department or your supervisor for funding issues. Some agencies you may consider include:

  • Canada Institute for Health Research (CIHR): CIHR offers a wide variety of funding programs, with specific awards for Doctoral, post-doctoral, fellowships, and health professional training.
  • Healthcare, Technology, and Place (HCT&P): A new program sponsored by CIHR. (http://www.hctp.utoronto.ca/)
